Hillsborough spreads from the Sourland Mountain foothills to the Raritan and Millstone rivers. It mixes subdivisions of colonials built from the 1970s onward with older farmhouses and homes on large wooded lots.
Wooded lots mean shade, leaves and moisture, which wear on roofs, gutters, decks and siding. Grant checks these closely, and they are also the places where wood destroying insects get started.
Radon levels vary from house to house, even on the same street. A radon measurement during the inspection period gives you a real number to negotiate with.
Some Hillsborough homes are on public sewer and some are on septic systems. A sewer scope can inspect the line from the house to the public main or to the septic tank.
